USB 2.0 Hardware/Software Solution Enables Fast, Easy Capture of Video for Playback on Pocket PCs, Palm
PDAs, Portable Media Players and Digital Media Receivers
GRIMALDI
FORUM, MONACO (June 1, 2004)
– Building on the success of its
industry leading USB 2.0 external audio/video capture devices, ADS Tech (www.adstech.com) announced today Instant
VideoDVX. The new device can be used
with a WindowsÒ
XP system and the bundled UleadÒ VideoStudioÔ 8 Basic video
editing software for capturing, creating and direct recording of the MPEG-1,
Windows MediaÔ
9 (WM9) and DivXÒ
formats. ADS Tech is demonstrating the performance and versatility of Instant
VideoDVX at MedPi, the European exhibition for interactive consumer products,
held in
Instant VideoDVX allows pure, uncompressed video to
flow over its high-speed USB 2.0 connection to ensure transfer of the
highest-quality video. Video is then
compressed into MPEG-1, DivX or Windows Media Video by the PC based on the
video compression engine selected.
With Instant VideoDVX, users can maximize the capacity of a
low-cost 700MB CD—a key benefit for notebook users and consumers who have other
portable video playback devices. When the MPEG-1 (VideoCD) format is selected,
one hour of video can be recorded to a single CD. For even higher storage
capacity, WM9 and DivX compression can be used to record two hours of video to
a CD.
“Instant
VideoDVX addresses the needs of consumers and business users who want to
capture
video in a single format that will
be portable and will play back on all of their devices,” said Mike McCoy, ADS Tech President. “It gives
them the power and flexibility to capture video that can be played back on DivX-compatible
DVD players, Palm* and Pocket PC* PDAs, portable video players, and digital
media receivers such as the ADS Tech Media-Link. “With Instant VideoDVX, you can take your video with you!”
Instant
VideoDVX includes Video Studio 8 Basic, an easy-to-use yet full-featured video
capture and editing application. Simply by setting the capture options, users
can record direct to VCD, DivX or Windows Media 9 to create content that can be
played back on their PC and then burned to a CD, saved to flash memory media or
played in their portable video player. With the 3-step movie wizard, and the
automatic editing and trimming features, even a novice can create entertaining
videos.
The
Multi-Trim feature in VideoStudio lets users quickly trim out all of the parts
of the movie they don't want in one simple step without complex editing. Then, after inserting the video clips and
background music in the Movie Wizard,
they can set the style theme (vacation, sports, romance, etc.) and let the
Wizard create the complete edited movie.
Consumers
that want to customize their videos can use the powerful editing tools to add
video filters, adjust audio levels, and add fades, wipes, effects, titles,
voice narration and more.
Instant VideoDVX will be available from leading video
dealers, e-tailers and distributors around the globe
mid-July with an MSRP of $99 Euro. A complete hardware/software solution, the
USB 2.0 audio/video capture solution is compatible with WindowsÒ XP Home and
Professional systems. The external
device comes with an integrated 6-ft. USB 2.0 cable, a 6-ft. RCA audio/video
connection cable and VideoStudio 8 SE Basic video editing software with DivX
support, as well as a user guide and an installation CD.
